Tokyo Humanities Café 24 will take place on Friday, 9 January 2026, from 19:30 to around 21:15 at Ryozan Park Lounge (just 2 minutes from Sugamo Station, 5 minutes from Komagome Station).
Join us for a series of engaging, 15-minute accessible talks from top experts on topics including Indian food in Tokyo, otaku, transculturalism, and graphic novels.
Richard Evanoff – “Transculturalism: Connecting Worlds in Philosophy and Art”
Patrick Galbraith – “Reimagining the Otaku: Japanese Pop Fandom in 2026”
Chelsea Szendi Schieder – “Tokyo ’68 Sources and Stories: A Historian Writes a Graphic Novel”
Megha Wadhwa – “Lives Behind the Kitchen Doors: Indian Cooks in Japan”
To help cover venue costs, there will be a 500 yen entry charge, and we kindly ask that you purchase at least one drink at the bar.
