Our 26th Humanities Cafe (5 June) will be a special event on "Culture, Identity, Representation", with talks on robots, Victorian novels, cultural trends, and heroic statues at Impact HUB Tokyo.
There will be 15-minute talks from:
Geoffrey Baker - Professor at National University of Singapore and specialist in literature and the law.
W. David Marx - fashion and culture writer, author of author of "Ametora: How Japan Saved American Style" and "Status and Culture: How Our Desire for Social Rank Creates Taste, Identity, Art, Fashion, and Constant Change".
Keiko Nishimura - Assistant Professor at Waseda University. Specialist in machines (including robots) and their role in communication.
Sven Saaler - Professor at Sophia University. Specialist in historical memory in Japan.
Entry is just 500 yen! Event starts at 7pm. Close to Meguro Station.
